Jessica Kheseli

Jessica Kheseli Large13 years old, attending St Andrew's School, Turi. Jessica was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in June 2020.

Jessica previously attended Cavina School, Nairobi where she achieved all A’s for effort and excelled in exams and classwork. She is described as focussed, consistent, hardworking and can always be relied upon to produce excellent results.

She was captain of U13 girls’ hockey team, represented the school in rounders and netball, and participated in the school swimming gala. She sings,plays violin and double bass, all at ABRSM Grade 5 level, and is a member of the Safaricom Youth Orchestra. She was consistently awarded winning projects in the School Science Fair.

Jessica was Deputy House Captain, Deputy Head Girl and School Prefect. She mentored younger pupils both in academics and character development; her input influenced girls to take up football and contributed to the creation of a girls’ cricket team.

As a member of Safaricom Youth Orchestra, Jessica played in fundraiser performances and the Annual Jazz Festival for Ghetto Classics, a community programme for one of Kenya’s biggest informal settlements. She also plays in Butterfly Music Concert annual fundraiser for Nairobi Hospice. She participates in Hog Charge and a national bike competition charity event, supporting the conservation of Mount Kenya’s water towers. She took part in Mount Longonot climb and the Cane walk in aid of Kenya Society for the Visually Impaired, and is a Standard Chartered Bank annual marathon fundraiser to help the next generation learn, earn and grow.
