The Beacon Scholarship at the London School of Economics

LSE was founded in 1895 by four leading members of the Fabian Society – Beatrice and Sidney Webb, Graham Wallas and George Bernard Shaw. The School's aim was the betterment of society, and in 1922 it adopted as its motto rerume cognoscere causas – to know the causes of things. Today it is one of the foremost social science universities in the world, with teaching and research spanning the full breadth of social sciences, from economics and politics to anthropology and geography.
