George Kokonya

18 years old, attending Cardiff University, UK. George was awarded a Beacon Scholarship for University in May 2024.

George is studying towards a BEng in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to that, he attended Nairobi Academy, Kenya, where he completed A-levels in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, receiving excellent grades. He was also in the top 3 for his school for IGCSE results.

George enjoys a wide range of co-curricular activities. He has represented his school in a range of team sports and was a member of the team that won the Kenya Association of International Schools Football Championship.

George has a respected presence with his peers. He is confident and approachable and demonstrates empathy and understanding for the challenges faced by others. He is extremely popular with his peers and notably has had significant influence as a mental health advocate supporting others.

George enjoys a range of Citizenship activities and is an active member of his local parish where he contributes to community service within the church. George is also passionate about supporting positive mental health and has run mental awareness sessions as part of the Mental Health Club.
