21 years old, from Kenya, attending King's College, Cambridge, UK. Muhammad was awarded a Beacon Scholarship in May 2023.

Muhammad is studying towards a BA in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences. Prior to that he attended Nairobi Academy, Kenya, where he was recognised as a high-achieving student, finishing with A*A*A* at A-level. He has had a gap year since graduating from Nairobi Academy, during which time he remained active coaching and mentoring younger students.

Muhammad is a keen athlete and football player. He has won awards in football, rugby and swimming and has participated in basketball and hockey. He is also a keen debater.

Muhammad is confident and well-liked and has a reputation for supporting his peers. During his gap year he has coached a local football team.

Muhammad successfully fundraises for a variety of projects in his community. He has made weekly visits to a children's home and worked with autistic children in a special school. He also led a campaign called 'Adopt-a-student' providing funds aiming to keep orphaned children in education.  

 

Workshop Participation

As a new Beacon Scholar, Muhammad spoke about his experience of service to date, in particular fundraising to support disadvantaged girls to complete high school, and also coaching with children's football teams.
